Now that I have learnt that boosting from other servers are not show in the local timeline, and proper quotation is also disabled indulge me to enhance discoverability by recommending locals some artist's accounts to follow from other servers in no particular order or style:

@[email protected] @SubversiveGirl @chrislewislee @apolloniasaintclair @lizbeth490021 @FredGambino @GrahamTG @calumalexanderwatt @mustapipa @TomFowler @alexneonakis @inkenart @cobalth @Yannboyer @Karl_Poyzer

@Ailantd Cheers fella. Lovely company to be in. Despite the clunkiness and learning curve, I am enjoying Mastodon. A different experience to Twitter, but that's no bad thing.

@thisnorthernboy

Indeed.

But apparently the boosting help to discoverability is very limited, sadly.
Which is sad.
I have been boosting my posts from my social account to try to bypass the .art mute, just to learn that it has been for nothing XD

@Ailantd @thisnorthernboy I feel that with the federated system, a server should be able to choose if they can be boosted or not.
@Ailantd Yeah that's far from ideal. I'll admit it's not something I've looked in to much. Sticking with this server and the one account. It's about as much as I can cope with!
@thisnorthernboy a little patience and faith in word of mouth.
@poetaster That's definitely how I'm approaching it. And to be fair, I think engagement has been pretty good so far.
@thisnorthernboy you guys are so talented you'll wind up on instances dedicated to @knitting.place ;-)
@Ailantd im seeing this on home. Previous work, i boost. My followers see this on there home, etc. I don't want to see all boosts from all instances local. It would make local useless. Thanks for sharing your work.

@Ailantd - No, not for nothing. We, your followers, saw them.

@vattuvarg @thisnorthernboy

Nobody follows my second account there. I was doing it thinking that boosts were show up in the social local timeline, which is not the case.

I'm sure there's been a lot of thought about that, but In general I think that behaviour hinders discoverability and isolates locals timelines a bit too much.

@Ailantd - I think the current policies are chosen for minimizing strain on small instances. Those policies might change with future hardware performance.

Personally I think of accounts as persona. This account is my private one. The other account is more or less my mastodon equivalent to a gmail junk collector. ...except for one thing. The love of my life refuses to switch to my smaller private account.

@thisnorthernboy

@vattuvarg @thisnorthernboy I was using the second one, that I had previously, to try to bypass a bit the mute on social and have some reach there, only. But to no avail apparently.

@Ailantd - Mastodon.social is a special case in my opinion. It's like a testbed with the devs sitting in the sand of it. It is both a real instance and not. Keeping it separate is both good and bad. That is one of the parameters to experiment with. One that is missing on other social media.

+ @thisnorthernboy

@vattuvarg @thisnorthernboy Could be, but being the case that other instances posts doesn't even can appear in the local timeline, I think is safe enough to let the federal get a bit "dirty" to avoid isolation. Different points of view I guess.

@Ailantd - You forget your own importance. You allow us followers to bridge that policy decision. I discovered @thisnorthernboy through your postings.

I could do the same work you are doing if I wasn't an introvert monster. 😉

@thisnorthernboy @Ailantd
it’s all over my head :)
@FredGambino Me too Fred. I just post here, and don't worry about the rest.
@Ailantd Good to know. Thank you so much for sharing!! ❤️
