I think they can fix the way we reply. Make it more like Twitter just to make it even better in that regard.
@Woji @[email protected] yeah that'd be nice. and gifs!
@SophiaNyx @Woji @RetroGameBrews i do miss the gifs. I also can't post videos so my artwork screen recording or guitar riffing. I'd have to host on like YouTube of vimeo...ugh
@Bendo2Levi @SophiaNyx @Woji @[email protected]
You can post gifs and also videos. It only depends on the client you use. But for videos I can say that it's quite counterproductive as you're using small servers here with limited capacity and bandwidth. That's what youtube or vimeo were designed for. If you don't want the whole world to see them just set them to "not listed" so only people with the link can watch them. Nothing speaks against using youtube.

@T_Error @SophiaNyx @Woji @RetroGameBrews I tried a couple times with small 1 to 2 minute videos even at lower quality. And they crashed the app. Haha.

Also meant that there isnt a gif tool in app so I have to download them from Google first. Just an extra step that I'll adjust too. I genuinely enjoy it here tho as I'm making connections with new folks

@Bendo2Levi @SophiaNyx @Woji @[email protected] I'm using the mastodon app for android on my Samsung phone and I can insert gifs as usual over tenor button on the on screen keyboard. The fact that bigger videos fail to upload should indicate you that this is not what mastodon is meant for. Even twitter only allows 2 minutes long videos. Just upload them to youtube as it is intended. Ever uploaded a big video and have seen how long it takes those big servers to process the video?
@Bendo2Levi @SophiaNyx @Woji @[email protected] *ever uploaded a long video on youtube
