@maryellen He's been nothing but kind and helpful for ages over there. He used to be a hacker but has really embraced his creation of an ad-free, supportive platform. Oh, and the creator of this place effed him over years ago.
@maryellen@kellykba I just don’t want to be on a platform that is completely owned by one person. I remember how Twitter started and I have seen how it ends. Big attractive thing about Mastodon is that there’s no one Mastodon. It’s a bunch of different Mastodon (servers) and each is run by someone else but they can all talk to one another. So if you don’t like your server or the person who owns it, you can pack up and go to another one. I love that.
