I have to commemorate this moment.

We had fire alarm today in the middle of my undergrad Jefferson & Hamilton seminar.

Huge numbers of people flowed out of the building & crowded outside.

Somehow, the bulk of my class ended up in a little circle with me. And they CONTINUED TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE READINGS.

This was a major I AM A GOOD TEACHER WITH A GOOD CLASS moment.

I'm going to save that for awhile.

@jbf1755 having listened to your podcast Now & Then, I can understand why your students would stay and ask questions and learn more from you.
@jbf1755 when kids actually do the readings and are excited about... ideas.

@jbf1755

I have a question

What colour was Hamiltons white horse?

I originally thought it was brown but now
.. gosh i just don't know anymore

You are so lucky you don't have me as a student

@jbf1755 practicing peripatetic school, just let them in for winter https://hamiltonmusical.fandom.com/wiki/A_Winter%27s_Ball
A Winter's Ball

"A Winter's Ball" is the 9th song of Act One of Hamilton. In this song, Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton are together before attending Philip Schuyler's winter ball. The original name of "A Winter's Ball", prior to the Off-Broadway production of Hamilton, was "Ladies Transition", called a transition because of its short length and leading up to the next song in the musical.

@jbf1755 Same thing happened to me! Summer course, fire alarm, building emptied. We found a shade tree and they just sat on the rocks and the grass. Topic was 3D rotations. No marker board, so a student folded me a paper airplane which turned out to be the ideal teaching tool.

Would do it again anytime. Glad it happened to you.
