My #Nextcloud server just went down for a little nap and when it wakes up, it should be running #Fedora 37. This box has been running on the same Fedora install, constantly upgraded, and through many hardware changes, since 2014. #Linux
Success!
@vwbusguy curious, what do you use owncloud for?
@zackery Basically, a self-hosted family cloud server. (It did originally run ownCloud but I migrated to Nextcloud shortly after the fork.)
@zackery All our phone pics/videos get sync'd to it. Also use it as a backend for #kodi so we can watch home videos on the TV through a raspberry pi
@vwbusguy I always end up reinstalling the OSes after while. Except my current Kubuntu install, from 2020
@vwbusguy what kind of hardware?
@hyperreal Last year, I "upgraded" it to some six year old or maybe worse i7 processor. Before that it was running on i5 or Core2Duo. This server has been ran entirely on hardware salvaged from a retirement sale or corporate e-waste bin. The only exception is the current data drives, which I bought new. The OS drive itself is probably over a decade old. All spinning disk and backed up regularly.

@vwbusguy i was considering migrating from Debian to Fedora on my server too. Is that server exclusive to Nextcloud or do you run anything else on it as well?
@caasidev Mostly just runs #Nextcloud as a LAMP stack, but I'm doing a lot with it - @CollaboraOffice, for instance.
@vwbusguy @CollaboraOffice awesome, I just use my old laptop, took the screen off and use it for Nextcloud and Collabora too, plus some more stuff
@vwbusguy I 💙 Nextcloud! I’ve been running a similar setup to yourself on older hardware and it’s been flawless for the past 6 years.
@mdj @vwbusguy I need to really sit down and learn how to make this happen. it's been on my list for a few years and I keep putting it off.
