Given that we are rapidly trying to build community here…

Can I ask you to do two key things:

1) Reshare other people’s posts - so your timeline is rich with other people’s posts for anyone browsing your content to discover.

2) Follow, follow, follow. That goes for following those posting good stuff - and also following those that follow you (as much as practically possible/sensible).

If you do these things, you’ll help us all network up at fast pace - and we all grow our voices & reach. ✌️

@mikegalsworthy does anyone know if there's a way of prioritising notifications on here? I had a select few on the birdsite - so as not to miss their posts; however, I can't find how to on here.
@Blueleafygreen Good point. I think you can do “lists” just like on Twitter— but maybe should be made more prominent.
@mikegalsworthy @Blueleafygreen yes I used to tick the notifications on certain accounts so I didn’t miss anything but it’s not an option here it seems?
@mikegalsworthy @Blueleafygreen Yes, I've set up a list of favourites which is where I go first or if I think I might have missed something.
@Blueleafygreen @mikegalsworthy one option I've found so far is to create a list, but I would be interested to know if there are other ways as well.

I use Tusky and when I follow someone a little bell appears. If I tap that it notifies me when they post. Not sure about how it works on other apps, though...
@Blueleafygreen @mikegalsworthy apparently you can do it via lists though I haven't tried it yet. Add all or some of the people you follow to a list or lists and you can then easily check out what they've posted.
@Blueleafygreen @mikegalsworthy The lists are an excellent function here. I have split categories for news, twitter people etc and they are a great way of getting a clean timeline without missing posts from people you want to read. You have to add the list first under your profile and then it is simple to add people afterwards either from the people you follow or other ways. It is a bit like RSS feeds from the old blogging days
@Blueleafygreen @mikegalsworthy If you go to the profile of the person whose toots you want to know about, then click on the bell symbol next to the [Unfollow] button, you should be notified when s/he expresses themself. The only difficulty is, that the bell is in outline only, and, altho it changes color, it's not that easy to see. However, if you hover over the bell button you'll get a "tooltip" that will tell you whether it's on or off. I hope that helps!
@nigelh @LaizyDaizey @nico1946 @mikegalsworthy It doesn't show on the Mastodon app, but I have Tusky App and it's got the bell on there. Risky is a little easier to use, certainly with android. ☺️
@nigelh @LaizyDaizey @nico1946 @mikegalsworthy *Tusky, not Risky 🤦🏼‍♀️
No edit availability 😃
@Blueleafygreen @nigelh @nico1946 @mikegalsworthy Bell symbol now accessed by going to three dots top right of my own toot & opening browser. Press on account and there is wee bell by Follow button. Pressed it. Whether it works I have yet to find out...
@nico1946 @Blueleafygreen @mikegalsworthy Thank you. Just what I’ve been needing to know.
@Blueleafygreen You need to make a “list”. With the web interface in advanced mode you can pin the list as one of the columns.
@Blueleafygreen @mikegalsworthy if you are following someone, there is a bell 🔔 icon on their profile that you can select so you are notified of their toots.
