I come from a radiation and cancer research background and don't really see the problem there. But since I know your specialist includes an infectious disease epidemiologist, why do you see a problem there? I do have a specific opinion on that, but I would be interested in your opinion. #Epidemiology #Epidemiologie

@Veiel @gregggonsalves I had noticed that my question was also written in Twitter style. I like this here so much better than Twitter. I have to admit that I enjoyed the garbage there, but it just doesn't do any good to talk to you followers and not talking with each other.
@Veiel @gregggonsalves Yes, I understand with infectious disease epidemiologists in Germany your opinion. We have the RKI and the HZI in Braunschweig and after that I can't think of any infection epidemiologist outside of tropical medicine at any university.
@ecological_fallacy @gregggonsalves There are good scientists in ID epidemiology both at RKI and HZI, but there is no leader who navigates us through the pandemic. Maybe Gérard Krause has the potential, but either he hasn't been heard by the public or he didn't speak loud enough.

@KleinTierWart @Veiel Ich mag ja Gérard, aber ich glaube eine Person alleine kann nicht den Unterschied machen. Ohne die passenden Strukturen ist das glaube ich einfach zu viel. Alleine das man der Charité dann Fördergelder gibt und eine Uniklinik sich um die Verteilung im großen Stil kümmern muss.

@ecological_fallacy @KleinTierWart Nun, er suchte ja Kontakt zu Epidemiologen. Jetzt hat er welchen. Zumindest einen. Ich verstehe mich selbst nicht als echten Epidemiologen, obwohl ich Infektionsepidemiologie in meiner Gebietsbezeichnung stehen habe. Bin auch interessiert und habe Grundkenntnisse. Aber im Kern bin ich medizinischer Mikrobiologe.
