Just a couple of statistics to make your day.

By 2024 Gen Z and Millennials will make up about 50% of all voters. They will equal all older voters in numbers. By 2028 they will dwarf the older generations. They are passionate, they vote and the can’t be Gerrymandered.

@mikefarb
That was said about my generation. We protested illegal wars, we made women’s reproductive healthcare rights happen, we pushed gay rights, civil rights, and environmental movements to the forefront. And yet, here we are. I hope history does not repeat itself. I hope GenZ and millennials stay the course.
@mikefarb But people (not me, mind you) tend to vote more conservative as they get older. That's the rub.

@Doohickie @mikefarb

Its mostly untrue that people get more conservative as they get older. What happens is that people in marginalized groups die younger, so the voter pool gets more white through attrition.

If you adjust for race, the younger generations are not any more liberal than the older generations. They are just less and less white.

@Spicewalla @mikefarb Sounds logical, definitely interesting. I've been white middle class most of my life and I'm pretty liberal. My parents are/were too.
@mikefarb I hope that they become as reliable a voting block as boomers have consistently been & not choose to sit some cycles out due to lack of “cause”, or excitement. I hope thet vote at every opportunity & at all levels, all the time. #vote #votingmatters #turnout
@mikefarb how can’t they be “gerrymandered”?

@mikefarb
No, but if reading The Wrong Book is made a felony, voting rights can get stripped.

How mad is that? Right now teachers in Florida can lose the right to vote if they get convicted of the "crime" of disseminating books.

@mikefarb Why can't they be gerrymandered?
