Ugh, PayPal is going to start charging (European?) customers an inactivity fee. What a nightmare.
@matthew_d_green Doesn't PayPal hold a bank license? So it may be because of regulations for the safekeeping of customer funds. Especially because it only affects the money on the account (positive balances) and it's explicit that it won't cause any negative balance...
@matthew_d_green
And there's a $2500 fee for complaining about it.

@matthew_d_green PayPal is very much a product I don't really see the need for nowadays.

Foreign exchange? Use a card or Wise for bank transfers
Wallet? Why do I need that, I have a bank account
Consumer protection? Huh, chargeback and Section 75

What is left? πŸ˜…

@matthew_d_green Is this just on personal ones? And have they defined what duration of time equates to inactive? Thanks for heads up btw πŸ‘
@matthew_d_green Wondered why they left out the comma between y and P all these years.
@matthew_d_green it's telling that they're not going to charge accounts that have a zero balance. I think they looked at their accounting and saw a thousands of accounts had a few euros in them, and figured they ought to help themselves to all that money.
@matthew_d_green I haven't received the email (Italy) but I hope they don't include accounts with active subscriptions πŸ€”
@matthew_d_green this is good news. I have been trying to close my (very old) paypal account for years. Of course I need to login for that. I still have my credentials but paypal apparently turned on 2fa without my permission. It tries to send a totp to a landline of a house I left fifteen years ago. Of course there's a reset procedure but that also works by sending a totp to the same number.

@matthew_d_green Well I think it was there for quite some time. I finally closed my PP account month ago.
