A lot of times I see memes about twitter's degradation stick because they "sound correct". Like "they're running a dev build in prod" or "they shut down the microservice for 2fa". Most likely, when Musk tweeted they're shutting down microservices, engineers shrugged and did nothing, then text 2fa fell over for an unrelated reason (maybe something went wrong but the oncall who would fix it was laid off).
