Attending a magic convention has always been more about meeting magicians than about magic per se, and that is exactly how the Hyderabad Magic Convention Mayajaalam was to me. What made this convention most special was that the #i3andco were accompanying me, like the #PsychicSiblings were accompanying master shadow artiste #PrahladAcharya — to their first-ever magic convention. And that we were all going to have our friends and legendary magician #ShankarJunior for company.
For starters, we managed to capture an image of the voice that I always hear over my shoulder as I perform magic! This is unprecedented and we are trying to ascertain the veracity of this image. #ShankarJunior
Our young stars shone bright and left their mark at their first magic convention. Here’s the #PsychicSiblings and #i3andco savouring their memories of entertaining magicians from across the country at the most prestigious auditorium in Hyderabad, #RavindraBharathi.
Ask any magician in India what started their journey in magic and you would hear of one or both of these PustakMahal books: “Learn Magic for Fun” and “101 Magic Tricks”. Here’s #i3andco with the legendary #BVPattabhiRam, the magician and hypnotist who can truly stake claim to be all our Guru. #MastIndia
Just when we thought nothing could beat the wonderful experiences we had at the Hyderabad magic convention, my own hypnotism guru and mentor of over 25 years, #PradeepAggarwal gave the #i3andco their first taste of ‘Mind Control’, but not before they had blown his mind with some magic of their own!
@NakulShenoy I'm from another era. My first magic book was P.C.Sorcar's :)
@gautamghosh With all due respect, P C Sorcar’s book did not teach much to aspiring magicians. It was yet another magic trick, that heralded his greatness. B V Pattabhi Ram’s books contained very basic tricks, but more than quenched the enthusiast’s thirst for learning magic tricks. Then on, you find the right books like those published by the legendary Sam Dalal of Kolkata.
@NakulShenoy hey I was no knowledgeable trader. I still remember a trick. Of turning water into wine :)
@NakulShenoy ugh. I meant reader. I was 12 when I read it
@gautamghosh How much wine did you make? Or tie a thin thread between two mountains to make the rope trick? 🤪
