@kdpsingh Yes, Ive read that it used mastodon’s code or something. But almost all servers have defederated from it, hence u never see it . Gab, the far right socmed was also defederated here but it is on the fediverse too

@kdpsingh @leahmcelrath when I joined the lol server, that was one of the big draws: that they automatically ban servers like TruthSocial, Gab, etc. - I hadn’t realized until then that they were based on Mastodon, but knowing that the filth won’t creep into my space is nice.

@kdpsingh @leahmcelrath Here on Mastodon we knew it was using Masto code from the start. That's how it was easy for hackers to get in, they knew the ropes.

Same with Gab. Gab commenced to break key features that facilitated transparency. Also in the process indicated that many of their users were barely active.

Authoritarians use open source tools in a top-down manner, tells a lot about who they are.
