Visited a section of West #Wansdyke at Compton Dando near #Bath #UK today. The drawing on the right is how this spot looked in 1926. Not the most impressive section of this ancient monument, but at least the bank is still preserved here. Wansdyke is a linear boundary feature that runs across #Somerset and #Wiltshire. It's still uncertain who built it and why. The name derives from the Saxons who called it Wodnesdic, after their god Woden. However, it may have been built by the Romano-British.
