Been so busy with the game jam, that I totally forgot that there is a) a splatfest going on and b) desertbus for hope has started!
@DareLooks TBH, missing this Splatfest is probably for the best. One of the teams found an exploit that let them make SOME matches not count if they lose (only downside being that overusing it temp bans them) and they have been abusing it on all high stakes battles that theyre about to lose. Or, at least all the high stakes battles I've been in 🙃
@SomeDingus aah, that bites! Hopefully they fix that by the next splatfest =/
@DareLooks Unfortunately, I don't think they will because there's no real good fix I can think of :/ The exploit they're using is force disconnecting, because if too many people disconnect, it causes a draw
@SomeDingus Mhhhh, if only members of their team disconnect, the other team should be awarded a win, shouldn't they? Or have they found a way to cause disconnects for the other team's players, too?
Alternatively, I suppose nothing would hinder any of the other teams to use the exploit, too; but I suppose there's always going to be a big platform throwing itself behind one team, to manipulate the outcome
@DareLooks It SHOULD result in a win for the team that doesn't connect, but instead Disconnectors are just given a tiny slap on the wrist, that barely puts a dent in the Splatfest score, and people who remain connected receive no points, but no slap on the wrist either. The issue is that random matches count as 100 times, or 333 times the amount of normal points for the winner, but the disconnection slap is not increased to match, and they're exclusively using the strategy on those matches
@SomeDingus I definitely see how that makes a lot of sense to exploit, yeah!
But the solution would seem to just declare a winner, instead of a draw, and adjust the punishment, to reflect the stakes?
No idea if Nintendo will go down this road, though
@DareLooks yeah, like I said, I agree that that's what SHOULD happen, but this has been the system since Splatoon 1, so I doubt it'll change. The only thing that's changed is that in Splatoon 1 and 2 there was a general understanding that using that tactic was bad, and nobody did it out of honor. Splatoon 3 has a good chunk of new users, who don't care about honor though
