In one sentence tell me why you’ve come to #MedMastodon from twitter?
@Roshanamn I imagine fewer of the Medincel Reddit Bros (at the moment) is a driver for many people.
@welshgasdoc partly my suspicion and why I ask, also, hi!!
@Roshanamn Met loads of nice people and want to continue the vibes, the learning, the procrastination 🤣.
@mohsinkhan but why on here rather than twitter

@Roshanamn I’ve not jumped ship. My hope is Musk will grow bored of his new toy and just sell it on again.

But if too many of the nice folk I follow leave Twitter, then I’ll have to follow them too. It’s all about critical mass as with any network system.

FB for example retains the critical mass - only like 1% of my friends have left it for good. (Though I’ve largely cut FB posting out of my life…)

@Roshanamn because I’m worried twitter will end and want to stay in touch with the people I’ve met. And because I think medtwitter can be quite toxic.

@Dr_BellaR the same as me. There was a time I unfollowed almost all medic accounts for a few years, I’ve since refollowed some but limit my interactions & engage only on one or two topics that I feel my limited time/brain space need to focus on.

I found self policing and limiting helpful, but not easy at times esp as I don’t like to block people (I don’t want a silo)

nice to come somewhere where the main focus seems to be convivial social engagement though - hence mastodon

@Roshanamn I have made the move because I don’t like or trust Elon with any of my data. Also, am very happy this seems so left leaning and non aggressive so far.
@Roshanamn finer control over my timeline, more polite and curious discourse, no adverts!
@Roshanamn musks takeover taking twitter where I don’t want to be, and not willing to give him access to my thoughts or data

@Roshanamn

i have a relatively strong following
on Twitter but I’ve also been on
social media a LONG time since
the 90s and I’ve learned to never
get attached to any platform—-
things move on and so shall we.

@Roshanamn birdsite is full of angst now, not a healthy place
@Roshanamn interested in opensource and democratisation. I believe #healthIT should be like this #openehr #web3
@Roshanamn I don't want to enable and enrich its deplorable new owner, nor have a front-row seat to the new rise of hate speech on there now that he's running things.
@Roshanamn too depressing and polarised : people are more polite here
@Roshanamn
To remain in e-touch with clinical and scientific experts in all domains, to learn, and hopefully to share
