Ann WheatleyI have no idea how to do anything here, so on a steep learning curve. I've had an aversion to Facebook and Twitter, so basically no social media skills excerpt some learned on Instagram. As a photographer I've used Instagram quite a lot, mainly to enjoy the photos of others and to share a few of mine, but have been feeling increasingly uncomfortable and considering my future with Insta.

There's at least one other instance called PixelFilm, run by @jennifilm . I know you can use your Mastadon account to follow people on PixelFed and see the photos they post in your timelines. Not used it myself, so not sure what it's like following people on Mastodon from there and whether you can see all their posts (maybe just their photos?).
Jennifer@strypey @photosbyann @64 @zeborah yes! Pixelfilm.nz is intended for film photographers - image and video sharing only, and yes, you'll only see image posts from mastodon and other users (which is why I have this account, too!)
@jennifilm @zeborah @strypey @64 thanks for the intel! Sorry for what is probably a silly question. Can I post to instances of pixelfed from here? I’m using the Mastodon app. I don’t see a pixelfed app in the App Store.
@photosbyann @zeborah @strypey @64 no, mastodon apps aren't compatible with pixelfed! It's got a pretty neat web ui, and if you're on ios there's a lovely official app in beta you can use @pixelfed
