#indigenous Book Rec: Everyone should read "Columbus and Other Cannibals" (1978) by Jack D. Forbes (Lenape, Renape).

A classic of Indigenous philosophy, it unravels the colonial violence of the West as a collective psychosis he calls wétiko/wendigo (cannibal). Columbus is a wétiko. The West is wétiko because it kills and consumes without love for nor reciprocity with the world that we all depend on. Forbes thus tries to give an ontological basis for Capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism, etc.
