Think .. ayeeeee my typos

@Recon

Just lovely!

@ewen Thanks for saying that Ewan.. appreciated 👍
Saw your post on aggregator accounts .. hopefully if enough folk report an account to moderators they will be squished

@Recon

I wasn't sure if those kind of accounts were against the policies of this server. I've been up a mountain in Nepal with dreadful internet access and just haven't been able to get across these things. Finally have some internet access and a heap of client stuff to sort out!

@ewen Being up a mountain in Nepal is a poor excuse for not checking in on a social media app! 😜
You ought to be posting selfies every 20 mins at least …
I think that those who run this place would be keen to avoid some of the nonsense goes on elsewhere… If enough people call out shenanigans.. 🤷‍♂️
( was definitely joking about posting selfies)

@Recon

Funnily enough I took more selfies today than I normally do in a year! Partly because we had an amazing visit to Lake Tilicho in the Annapurnas, and partly because I finally got 4G access again and wanted my wife to see how skinny I am after 6 weeks in Nepal!

@ewen Always exceptions to the rule … Congratulations on the trip
I do one or two long-distance hike a year and for a brief period look distinctly leaner according to my wife. 😂
@Recon wonderful shot and edit!
@WhakatuNick Thanks Nick !
You are living in a wonderful part of the world for landscape photography ..
May visit before I shrug off mortal coil 👍
@Recon Very nice! love the pastels.

@plumocelot @Recon I started on Pixelfed and changed over to social. Found it lacked in a couple of areas.
@dustytravelsoz Thanks.. I was very fortunate to get nice sunlight at the end of the day … Im using it as the background on my PC and some people assume its a watercolour (job done ☑️)
@Recon I love that sunlight you get after storms especially when you are "out bush" .
@Recon is it a bad picture, because it doesn't work on instagram? we are lost, if a good picture is only a good picture, if they are enough likes on a social network.
@juergenlibertus Danke Jurgen.. my apologies. I was meaning the actual crop (16x9) I think Instagram isn’t really landscape crop friendly (Musk-birdy actually better 🫣)
Agree the number of likes/follows isnt a measure of a good image at all 👍 Im posting pictures that I like, and yes it would be wonderful if 2M others liked it .but Im not going to lose sleep (or sell my soul ) if not 🤔
I have a tiny number of folk that follow me and thats ok as at least we interact occasionally
@Recon Rattray is nearly always photogenic.
@stewartfisher Was from my first visit.. as Im more on the Better/Wetter side of the country 😜
But yup, a wonderful place.. I arrived before sunrise and left after sunset .. wandering up and down the beach .. Will definitely return
@Recon sounds great. The Museum of Scottish lighthouses in Fraserburgh is worth a visit too.
@Recon beautiful image.
@Tassie_JR Thanks Jon .. appreciate you saying so. 👍

@Recon beautiful colors, it’s really pleasing to look at!

I wouldn’t give too much on Insta, feedback there is driven highly by their algorithms, so this really is not a good indication about how „good“ an image is.

@mhoeher Ah. Thanks .. I actually meant the landscape crop .. For me I dislike how I have to squeeze a landscape (10x9 etc) onto Instagram. The Musk-bird site handles images better !! (madness)
The engagement aspect? . Ive never reached more than a few likes from the nice few who follow me on there. Chasing numbers isn’t for me… But its nice to have an image appreciated . 👍 Thank you .. again
@Recon 😍😍😍😍
@hagaff Thanks 😊 Was a long distance and a long day .. but produced some nice images
@Recon Beautiful. And totally understand about Insta and aspect ratios. Everything I shoot for one particular supercar company has to work at 4x5 vertical. I still shoot exactly how I want, as well. But I have to make sure I get shots that work in an Insta-friendly crop, too. Nuts.
@alfiegoodrich 🙏 Thanks , thats very much appreciated.
Maximising that screen space for clients !! 4x5 is nice .. but NOT for landscape … You have a good work/life photography balance it would seem 👍
@Recon 4x5 is nice when it's nice. But shots like this, shot for McLaren in Kyoto, never get onto their Instagram. I get to use them to promote myself. They might possibly use them in the future. But it's a shame one platform has come to dictate so much of how we do what we do.
@alfiegoodrich Rich colours there. Why has that image brought Dr No to mind instantly ? Also thats DEFINITELY not ny car !
@Recon Can clarify that there were No Doctors involved in this shoot. Although a dentist would have been useful, as the crown on my tooth came off just as we rocked up at the place! :-)
@Recon Excellent work, yes very worthy.
@Recon Sadly Instagram sucks at crops. You still can’t have a normal portrait there. So … not feeling sad of not using it anymore

@Recon

Love that, the graduated colour is just lovely, the faint reflection of the lighthouse is a nice finishing touch 👍🏻

@ReggieDrax
Thanks … glad you like it 👍
@Recon such wonderful layers of color
@aboutgrau Thank you 🙏 Was very fortunate to have beautiful light (taken near sunset) The combination of sandy beach and relatively shallow water produced nice pastel tones .. I spent from dawn til dusk on that beach, often just watching the tide ebb/flow
@Recon this indeed sounds like a wonderful afternoon. i wish i would live closer to the sea as well to get such views more often
@aboutgrau Me too! This was a get up at 1am … drive for 4 hours location ! … Worth it
@Recon wow, that’s great. it feels like you had a lot of energy that day. and it seems you also got well rewarded. i’d probably had to travel 6-8 h to get to the sea, so usually it ends up using a plane and a proper vacation when i feel the need for such views
@Recon that's lovely. Rattray?
@lyndabowyer Thats right… not that long ago ..
