On one hand I want to rewrite the ending of The Yin-Yang Master: Dream Of Eternity. OTH the ending is beautiful. If you haven't the movie yet you should!

@MarthaCrimson I forgot to mention that they filmed Dream of Eternity as a 2 parter. But the second movie is stalled due to director & actor scandals. Hopefully will be dusted off the shelves some day once both are forgiven. I also did a translation of the ending theme song a while ago, something for fans to enjoy I hope: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CLgLPxuJeVY/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Director and actor scandals? 😬 Do I dare ask about them?
@MarthaCrimson Hehe nothing serious by our standards but in China, it’s enough to warrant them being cancelled for a period of time.
@suziecho Curious me did a search, though it's not easy to find something about it on the English speaking internet. Any prognosis on how long they'll be out in the cold? Dream of Eternity functions well as a stand-alone, but it would be fun to see a sequel.
@MarthaCrimson Did you manage to find something? I know a couple of English-language publications I rely on for East Asian news. Since it’s only plagiarism & tax evasion (but by no means disregarding the severity of such matters), my guess is give or take 2-3 years. They didn’t physically hurt anyone. But in China’s entertainment business, they hold everyone to a particularly high moral standard.
Yes Dream of Eternity can definitely stand-alone. That’s a nice open ending.
@suziecho I caught the plagiarism, but not the tax evasion. English pages tend to concentrate on the Netflix deal and technical data about the movie.
@MarthaCrimson
This is essentially a gossip mag but their reporting is pretty factual based on Chinese social media, so they don’t usually make things up: https://www.8days.sg/entertainment/asian/deng-lun-tax-evasion-intergrity-commercial-entourage-614956
Deng Lun, Who Was Just Caught For Tax Evasion, Once Said That Actors “Should Behave With Integrity” & That He “Can’t Ruin” Himself

He also said that he once was so happy with earning just S$320 from shooting a commercial as a student.

Chinese writer Guo Jingming’s film pulled after plagiarism apology

Popular writer Guo Jingming made a public apology last week for plagiarism. Days later, his blockbuster film The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity, which had taken US$70 million in 11 days, was pulled. Is there a connection?

@suziecho Thank you! I hadn't seen it (I have a feeling I tweaked my search parameters wrong).
@suziecho Gossip mags are a mixed bag at the best times. That headline is very much in line with my impression of mainland China press (and attitudes to tax evasion).
@MarthaCrimson Absolutely- best to take everything with a grain of salt. I debated whether to send you the Global Times China article but I don’t usually rely on anything they write as the official Govt mouthpiece 😉
