Weird how we keep having elections that are only rigged against Republicans who lose but not against the ones who win.
@rmayemsinger Fascinating, ain't it? But more fascinating is how the Democrats struggle to make these things clear to voters. And by struggle, I mean to find and promote new ways to influence these narratives, much as conservative hegemons do every day. There is no plan that I've ever seen that seeks to elevate these issues in the eyes of the press, the liberal elites who fund outreach and advocacy, and the public itself. We need to discuss and create such a plan.
@shoq @rmayemsinger I followed Josh Shapiro’s successful campaign for Gov in Pennsylvania over on 🐦 and he/his team had a constant flow of information, vids, etc that kept him in the spotlight. It is possible for even small campaigns to utlize SM, family & friends, local news organizations to highlight. The Gov race in TX by Beto was also good & I don’t know what happened in GA with Abrams. Cuz I didn’t see much until the end.
@shoq @rmayemsinger Many of the issues that confront us are incredibly complicated. Too complicated for laypeople to really fully understand. I’m a reasonably bright guy, MIT PhD and all that, and while I understand science, I really can’t grasp all of the layers of something like the Ukraine war, e.g. I have a bias towards the oppressed and that shapes my thinking. Trying to explain it all during a campaign is a waste of time.
