i'm aaalmost done doing all the network stuff at home. this "tourism" thing is a lot of work actually huh. i should be getting paid for this. imo.
i gotta do all this today and tomorrow. aaa.
aaaaaa
went outside
why are there so many pretty girls in 🇦🇷? where is that country even?
i was thinking about that during pride but it turns out >90% of people carrying 🏳️‍⚧️ flags were trans men, which makes sense because they are unclockable otherwise
aw shit i told my parents i want to go see capybaras and they got all helicoptery and bad vibes about it and i guess now they are coming with me?
fucked up that because i'm a really cute girl they worry more about me and i get less freedom
lmao dad said The Line "when you grow up you'll see how things are" dude i'm already a grown-ass woman and i'm trying to live my best life here and that includes not living in pointless fear of imagined threats
good morning! last full day here. still a lot left to do. there's a train strike. fun
hey i'm going to the pharmacy does anyone need anything
the pharmacist remembers me lmao

argentina: where you can buy any drugs you want*

*except anything that is scheduled, anything that affects the central nervous system, anything that stopped being available because the importer went bankrupt, anything that isn't currently available because of import limitations

the central nervous system rule is, uhm, poorly applied. like, i just bought cabergoline, a dopamine d2 receptor agonist.
tourism
okay okay gonna do some touristic activities like trying out the local food. this is candy.
i think i spent less than 10 usd on my transit cards for public transport this past month, and that includes a few (but not all) airport buses. still have about 1.4 usd in there, enough for taking the train to the main city 20 times.
i went to nordelta (or, at least, the public parts). didn't find capybaras tho :(

"31 de octubre, dia de la neurodiversidad, porque [...] existe un cerebro igual a otro"

"october 31, neurodiversity day, because [...] two brains are the same"

(the [...] is a "no")

i got prettier pics but in the camera aaaand i gotta pack my big suitcase ;_;
good morning. slept like shit because mosquitos. they got inside my bed net. those fuckers. not going to miss that part of argentina
gonna miss a bunch of other things, like most days being sunny days in spring, or talking to strangers, or empanadas being omnipresent.
hiiiii from airplane wifi. i paid 10 eur for "chat only". twitter/mastodon not included. iodine is still agressively throttled. mosh over udp works tho, so i'm using bitlbee.
why are they so strict about mask policy (no valves etc) if they are gonna serve food and let everyone be maskless for 30 minutes
feeling so clever for bypassing some restrictions on the airplane wifi when actually i paid 10 bucks for the privilege of using poor quality internet, that is worse than no internet. i could be reading a book
hello europe! it's fuckimg cold
omg they have huel rtd in the whsmith of madrid airport zone C. finally, some good fucking food
being in spain is weird because i still speak primarily spanish but i can't just go to someone and say "che,"
window seat totally worth it
terrible news i'm already hearing people speaking german :(
landed. i think this trip helped me be more at peace with germany, because i found a home, a wife, and friends here (more than one per city). argentina is comfy but lacking important stuff.
my spoken english feels really weird lmao. like i got twice the usual spanish accent
also lol, yesterday i get out of the arrivals part of the airport to take my mask off to kiss my wife and i get a Warm Welcome to germany with two plainclothes cops going around randomly questioning people
not much happened, they asked for my passport and made a phone call asking stuff about me and took several minutes to return it. then they seemed to follow us around? just general creepy vibes.
at least they spoke okay english, unlike the average cop. also some spanish, but not enough to handle a spanish reply. lol.
anyway! the trip is over and my three months of vacation are nearly over too, going back to work on tuesday. might still use this thread to post some pictures.
so, as planned, i left the cute thinkpad x250 i've been using for a month back in argentina, as a gift for my mom, but i didn't have enough time to remove the linux partition
yesterday i synced the stuff i still had in there and, in preparation for the in-place delete, made an alpine linux chroot that runs from ram with a dropbear ssh and all fancy stuff to ensure it keeps working after it shouldn't work anymore
but it turns out moving a partition is pretty hard to do from commandline tools so i said fuck it, remote desktop'd, ran gparted, clicked things, and it worked just fine. it still runs. there's no more linux, the windows partition is taking its space now, and it still runs.
tourism
the main benefit of remote desktopping into a laptop that is open on someone's desk is that you can leave cute messages
the repartitioning worked but windows doesn't see the partition as bigger ;_; had a videocall with dad to try to unfuck this. truly a tragedy
one of the lessons i learnt from going to argentina is that my relationship with my dad is at its best when i ask him to help me with hardware-related tasks, like "disassemble the laptop and connect its hard disk to this other computer"
he's 72 years old and very boomer-like when it comes to software, but still doing great at hardware, and he's so genuinely happy to get these opportunities to shine
