One of the most fun things I did on Twitter before *gestures at everything* was accidentally start a conference based on a tweet.

#NormConf is a 100% free online data conference happening December 15 and you can get tickets and swag here. Today, my t-shirt arrived!

Normconf

Normconf is the tech conference about all the stuff that matters in data and machine learning, but doesn't get the spotlight

@vicki I'm so excited! Also, been INCREDIBLE seeing all the news and announcements coming out -- somehow this free tweet-based conference has a better web presence than any of the ones I've paid for?
@MikeMahoney218 probably cause it’s powered by love β™₯️✨ (and YAML)
@vicki This is such a great idea! I've registered and also posted in my company's data chat. Looking forward to it!
@cjonesy oh excellent! See you there!
@vicki Great idea! Sounds like a conference you are guaranteed to walk away from with useful information! And it's free and online? Nice.
@vicki
Great. Now I have to tell my boss that I'm taking a day off next month to attend something called Norm Con, while convincing him it's not about barflies.
@vicki I didn't realize I could change my duvet for conf
@delabj the future is ours to shape
@vicki Wow! I thought Monktoberfest by @sogrady was the only conference spawned by a tweet.
@vicki This is a fabulous idea. Signed up and raring to go!
@vicki Looking forward to it! Already got my shirt (but in 90s purple).
@vicki I think I saw this photo on birdsite before but I just noticed the art in your bathroom πŸ˜‚
@vicki @thoward maybe relevant to your interests? ☝🏽
@vicki We did the same... it was not on twitter, but Jaiku (which was purchased by google, integrated into their chat and then killed off). But we started off as a Tech podcast, moved on to a Linux podcast (Linux Outlaws) and then became OggCamp which has been running as a conference for over 10 years.
