When I'm looking at a list of people I could follow, accounts with blue checks catch my eye even though I know they have no meaning.

@conradhackett i dont interact based on verification status, i interact based on content. always have here, always have on twitter. they mean nothing and most of us are holding back the impulse to tell you all we dont care

identity verification is fine, if i know someone on another website then i can verify their relationship easily if they include it in their profile. in that way it's like keybase. otherwise it has no intrinsic meaning to me

We had an ole mule named Clyde growing up. Used to do everything he could to get attention.

When I see a Blue Check that is illegitimate, whether on here or an $8.00 birdsite blue check, I think to myself, and sometimes even say it out loud, there goes ole Clyde.
