Today in 1985, NBC premiered the TV movie AN EARLY FROST, the first made-for-TV movie about AIDS. It tells the story of a young attorney who contracts AIDS and then has to endure the medical, social, and familial consequences. Following the film (and local news programs) Tom Brokaw hosted an NBC News special dealing with the disease, entitled "AIDS Fear/AIDS Fact."

AN EARLY FROST stars Aidan Quinn, Gena Rowlands, Ben Gazzara, and Sylvia Sidney, the latter winning a Golden Globe for her role.
