so spotify is still roganed & youtube music has started breaking albums based on if they fail some content purity test — Apple music? is there another option I'm not seeing?
@rowan I’ve used Tidal and Deezer. Happy to comment on either. [Obligatory bit about how I still pay for music whenever I can because streaming sucks that way]
@jet good grief these sound even more like esports handles than usual. I guess "family plan & works with google home" are the two must-haves.
@rowan ah I can’t comment on either of those! Not sure what else to say now - both Deezer and Tidal seemed to have about same catalogues as others and are both relatively big and stable companies, so unlikely to vanish from under you. Tidal markets on being hifi but are kind of snake oil peddling in that area imo. I guess I’d look at Deezer, if Apple Music is unappealing for whatever reason.
@rowan obviously apple is big evil corporation which I don’t love… but I’ve been using Apple Music since 2016 and I do really enjoy it. Probably helps that they have my playlist data etc going back to the 00s… but I find I discover music I wouldn’t otherwise hear on there. I’ve got the whole ecosystem with all the apple devices going though so grain of salt I guess 🤡
@rowan We switched to Apple Music, and there was a nifty family plan that bundled that with 400GB iCloud storage and Apple TV & Apple Arcade. It's less good at suggesting music you've not heard, it's _remarkably_ better audio quality.
@Aethylred ah yes we have been on that, I think the only bad thing about it was how comically bad the payment page was
