Can't for the life of me figure out if I should be on aus.social or mastodon.social

I see different things from the same accounts followed on both instances.

Any advice?

@Billablog Have you developed a preference in the last few days?
Are you still seeing different things from the same accounts depending on which instance you're using?

@tooheymatthew I was tending towards aus but now I'm tending to back to this one after I was asked by a mod to put a CW on a US election comment.

Basically, don't ask me. I'm new in town too.

@Billablog I'm still getting used to the social norms on aus.social but so far I'm liking the kinder, gentler vibe over here.
I think one change we who've migrated from the bird site might need to get used to is putting hashtags at the beginning of toots (rather than the end of tweets, as we're more accustomed to) because they can function as a de facto CW. That's one thing I've noticed.
Some of the "so, you're new here" toots and related articles I've seen are also keen to remind newbies that many Mastodon instances were established by people from marginalised groups who were hounded and harassed off the bird site. That provided the necessary context for me.
Either way, I'm glad I haven't lost touch with you during the transition #FromMuskToTusk.

@tooheymatthew Aw, bless you.

I've always believed twitter is made by who you follow. Teddy bear twitter is awesome. That's not a euphemism and I'm not joking.

I think it's kind of trading one kind of tone policing for another but I respect the fact this is a different site with different values.
