the first time i dj'ed a festival without earplugs i had ringing in my ears for a week. most music producers i know wear earplugs **when playing shows**
everyone wants the sound guy to turn up the volume for their set so that their music sounds "better" but this is just a race to the bottom
Trav Stone@bcrypt in some former life I was a live sound engineer, and often ran the onstage monitor system. The general idea for some shows was that everybody should be louder than everyone else.
@trav_stone i've heard some headliners put in their contracts that they have to be X decibels louder than the supporting acts. so dumb.
