Remembrance Day in Canada.

My grandfather was in WWI, a sapper in the trenches. He got gassed and swore it gave his descendants allergies.

He kept a diary and wrote things like "Very lively today" if there was a lot of shooting and death around him.

He didn't want to talk about it after. Felt like cannon fodder.

He was a good man. For me, that's what this day is about; to respect those who went through what no person should have to endure, and often got little reward.
