My reconstruction of #StevePurcell's back-of-the-box painting for LeChuck's Revenge, based on scans of more exotic MI2 releases, like the Taiwanese and Korean manuals.

LucasArts Posters: The Revenge

Welcome back! With the forums back up, I think it's time to revive my poster thread as well. It's been quite a while since I've added anything to the project, but lately I felt the need to get back into it. Over the last few years, there's been a lot of improvements in terms of image restoration ...

@Laserschwert Fantastic work. It was such a treat seeing this for the first time without the blurb & screenshots obscuring parts. That serpent/mermaid detail 😍
@Laserschwert I’m in awe 😍😍😍😍 I love the way you painted it, the bright colors, the details!! amazing
@fishbone I didn't paint it. Steve Purcell painted it. I just reconstructed it from tons of scans (boxes and manuals).
@Laserschwert @Laserschwert oh I’m sorry, I thought β€œreconstructed” was referring to the subject, not the painting (english is my second language so at times I mess it up a bit, so sorry!) What do you mean with reconstruction tho? You scanned it and painted over?

@fishbone I think this images explains it quite well.

Basically, I collect as many scans of the art as possible, to reconstruct a "clean" version out of those, without any text overlays, screenshots or damages. In this case, I didn't need to paint (as in make up) anything manually, though sometimes that's necessary as well (the Zak McKracken artwork I posted the other day was heavy in that regard).

But first and foremost, I'll try to use as much of the original art as possible.
