For people that voted for those loons, it's not about policy or improving their own lives as a constituency, it's about "winning" via sloganeering & confirming biases.

Similar to their predecessors, the politicians you mentioned will have scant (or even empty) accomplishments within the actual legislative framework. In many ways, they simply aren't doing their jobs & in any other instance, would likely be terminated for non-performance.

Theatrics fill their coffers.

@meanmeanglide so yes, major, lingering systemic issues. Also known as private financing of campaigns. The only way to make politicians “perform” is to publicly fund all political campaigns. Until then, politicians will keep the status quo and enrich themselves.
