I'm getting the idea that political speech is just too upsetting for the people on this site. My whole purpose on social media is to engage with political speech.
I think you are kind of missing the point Hughster. Talking about politics and hoping to engage others requires re boosting. Folks may just block people who are inconsiderate or ignore their posts.
@jentaub @Stmorecowbell No, I do understand the argument—but not everyone agrees with it and it's by no means a universal consensus.
There's a compelling argument to be made that CWs should be reserved for genuinely distressing content (that would normally prompt warnings in mainstream media channels) and that overusing it means more people will disable the feature entirely, making all distressing content visible.
(Apologies if I've made this point already in the past; I can't remember.)
I completely hear you. Interesting conversation. I think it will evolve
@hughster @jentaub @Stmorecowbell been here for a long long time. That's my take as well.
I try not to be a jerk about it but I'm very 🤷♂️ about CWs that are not around distressing topics.
the political stuff - back when norms were established, virtually everything was Trump, Trump, Trump everywhere. Got real old for some reason 😜 that's where the cw/politics habit came from i think.
Today I don't care so long as it's not nsfw.
