Think of it this way. A content warning label serves two purposes. It protects people who don’t want their feed cluttered or upsetting and a service as a little preview of something exciting that might be hidden behind the curtain. Kind of like the quote tweet did
Also keep in mind that out of courtesy many will not boost any political tweet that doesn’t have a warning. So actually, respecting others will help get your message across and create the kind of community we want.

This is neither a new community nor a “brand” new one. People have lived on here for years. We are the newcomers. I’m not interested in being a colonizer. We are not tourists. Space here, and yes our presence will be transferring it out, but you don’t need to shout and leave litter everywhere

You can complain all you want about how silly you think it is, but if they want you to take your shoes off and leave them by the door, then it's a good idea to do it.
And if you REALLY hate it, then make your own instance, with your own rules, and don't complain about lack of reach.
