@misprofessioned Drop the official app like a cat turd and get yourself Metatext (if you’re on iOS) or Tusky (Android). So far the web desktop browser version gives the best experience, but both 3rd party apps are quite decent - I can only speak of Metatext, but Android folks seem quite pleased with Tusky. Mastodon is unpolished and buggy, but this has a good side too, making life more complicated for trolls snd bots.
