One of the stupidest aspects of this site (that I haven't found a way to get around) is that I can't just go to someone's page and follow them. I have to grab their long-ass "@user@server" thing and copy-paste it into where I'm logged in on my server.
Also I thought I was in an art server, but nope. Now I gotta do a chunky-moving process. I really just want this place to be streamlined a little.

I haven't advertised my Mastodon account too much because I kinda wanna switch servers first, but holy shit it feels super clunky.

(but I guess I also have no intentions of concentrating any serious efforts here unless Twitter is either just closed down/deleted as a whole or they start charging me to use it lol)

@pamelaoliver I think the issues I got were from the site acting weird from too many people coming over or something. The follow button is always my go-to, but then it would tell me I wasn't logged in(to their server; not mine) and couldn't follow unless I logged in. This was the first two times and I just figured I'd copy-paste address from there.

@pamelaoliver I'll try and use their follow button in the future, but it wasn't working for me before so I just assumed that's not how I was supposed to do it(I'm still new and will have a lot of dumb moments, but this site doesn't exactly streamline things and the site acting one way or the other from a surge of new users doesn't register to me as that, at first).

I think I've mostly figured out the site basics now? I'm having trouble with following people from different instances on the desktop site though. It keeps redirecting me to login, even though I'm logged in, and the "copy this link to your browser where you're logged in" doesn't work either. So I'm having to add through the mobile app instead. Done the whole cache clearing etc bits. I'll get some art posted up soon 👍 #newtomastadon
