Seriously though, fedi was *built* by furries, trans and queer folk, disabled neurodivergent people.

This is *the reason* the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable — and used.

If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kinda… nice?" — that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird".

So #KeepFediWeird.

I posted this and the parent toot at the start of Nov'22 wave of new people and communities joining fedi, bringing their specific needs and expectations.

Fedi learned a lot about itself since then, including that it needs to *dramatically* improve on the #antiracism front.

We need to recognize that fedi *failed* #Black / #BIPOC folks, and do better.

I also put CWs around topics like disordered eating, etc. But I experience racism almost every day, as do most Black US citizens. I'm not going to start every other sentence with "CW" just to make y'all feel better. Hiding racism to protect white feelings is just more racism. I won't do it. I do respect folks' right to Block me for that. 👍🏿

@rysiek am I right to assume that "fe" is pronounced like in "federation" and "diverse" is pronounced like in "universe"?

And if one wants to make a statement (I see what you did there ), one can choose to pronounce "diverse" like in "diversity"?

Vollkommen korrekt.
Nur ist das KEIN Wortspiel, in dem Sinne, wie Du es meinst.
Es drängt der Ideologie des Fedivers eine andere, die nix damit zu tun hat, auf. Streng genommen ist dieses "ohne Divers geht es nicht." noch nicht mal föderal, da es andere Meinungen exkludiert.
