I'm having computer troubles and dealing with stuff - there's still a lot of 'discourse' going on on that CW/politics post I made earlier, including a lot of genuine and valid questions - I'd appreciate help answering them from anyone who has the time and spoons <3

PSA: There's Politics happening a few places around the world right now. Please, /please/, place all political posts behind a content warning. It's actually in our Code of Conduct as a strong suggestion, but if we see anyone posting heavy political content frequently and without a CW, we will 'limit' the account (at the very least) so that the post don't show up on the public timeline. Be considerate of the mental health of your online neighbours. :bear_hugs:

@welshpixie

This might be the 4th time I've seen you use the phrase "the spoons". But I've never heard anyone say that before, and I'm 60 damned years old.

I have to look that up.

Wish me luck - I'm goin' a-googlin'.

@kelvin0mql Wikipedia also has a decent article on #SpoonTheory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoon_theory
Others might actually talk about #spellSlots instead, and I'm personally also now starting to lean towards adopting #spellSlotTheory over spoons, which is fairly well described in this blog post by #FromOneGeekToAnother: https://fromonegeektoanother.com/spell-slots-theory-an-explanation-on-depression/
(I did recently see a better explanation, but forgot to bookmark it...)

@welshpixie Pretty sure @Bec will help you champion here!

I'm in a weird spot because I take the middle line on CWs (i.e. I also like using them to help folks choose whether they want to engage with particularly long or topic-specific stuff), where some folks have taken a more strict "use them strictly for high sensitivity topics"

@esdin @Bec yeah, we don't enforce it for politics on .art, I just try to encourage it as a general good practice - we enforce it for NSFW and AI art but that's all.
@welshpixie the rudeness and entitlement is out of control!!!
@welshpixie late to the game but I got you too!
