I spoke about this a few days ago, but since there are so many new folks here: Mastodon has lists. And they're useful. You need to already be following people but you can put them into lists and then just call up that list. So, I have a list for journalists, and for tech law people. And it's super useful for me.

Unfortunately, lists are not currently public or shareable, though.

But test out the list feature to make Mastodon more useful.

@mmasnick Anyone having trouble getting lists to work? I added a few people to them, but no posts yet -- perhaps because they haven't posted since I added them?

I have also been getting intermittent failures on adding people to lists. Not sure if this is a common experience.

@j15r i've heard some people having issues as various sites deal with scaling. But yeah, lists only show posts going forward. They won't pull in from before...

I'm running my own instance on masto.host, but haven't really dug into whether there are logs or anything I should be watching.
