A short thread of digital marbling animations...

This first one is a variation on a traditional "birdwing" style, but with scalloped combing going in alternating directions:

Next up is a variation on the very popular "bouquet" style, but this version alternates the direction of the bouquets:
This is another variation on "bouquet", but with some extra vertical combing at the end that shapes/splits the bouquets further:
Here's a more freeform pattern, with the larger scale features driven by turbulence:
@amandaghassaei Such fantastic work šŸ‘ Does the amount of pull/force have to be consistent across columns? I’m slightly caught in the moment where the straight column lines feel digital and the constrast as they become fluid like.

@josephwilk Thanks! No the forces don't have to be consistent at all, just a velocity field that gets applied to the fluid sim, so you can define it however you want. Yeah I know what you mean about that transition, I think the input velocity field is a bit perfect (in a slightly uncanny way), and then the behavior of the fluid sim starts to dominate the longer it runs and feels a bit more natural / less controlled.

Big fan of your work btw, not sure if I've said that before!

@amandaghassaei all I see is Missoni pattern
