A year ago today our neighbour’s rather neglected cat showed up at our back door after being hit by a car. We’d already been caring for him and this was the final straw - we took him in. Fortunately, his injuries were minor (considering) and he recovered fully.

Not only that, but over the past year Diego has gone from being a stinky underweight hyperactive gremlin to a gloriously fluffy chonky boy with a heart of gold. He’s learned to be gentle when he plays, to respect boundaries, and to come home when he’s called. He is the goodest garbage leopard around

@jonimeenagh He's beautiful! We currently have a young cat hanging around that we're trying to befriend because we fear he's either a stray or severely neglected. Either way, it's heartbreaking and we want to find a way to help him. I'm glad Diego found you!
@DrJessC ooooh good luck with your lil fella! Diego was quite social (and hungry) so he kinda adopted us. But we’ve cared for other cats who are more skittish. Lots of patience, respecting their boundaries, and letting them come to you on their terms.
@jonimeenagh This little one is curious but skittish. We've extended the olive branch in the form of a food bowl - poor little thing was definitely hungry. But you're right - it's all about patience.
