I'm reading Max Fisher's "The Chaos Machine", and thinking about the way outrage manipulates our moral outrage

I think Musk is has done awful things to Twitter's community and its employees. So yeah, there's a sense of schadenfreude in all the things that are going wrong. But even though I can add a whole lot of qualifiers, I'm still amused by bullying

@iramjohn Isn’t it only bullying if there’s a power disparity? Musk is the self-appointed king of Twitter and can (and does) literally delete anyone who displeases him. He’s also constantly punching down on innocent bystanders (e.g. AOC). I may be wrong, but it doesn’t feel abusive to mock someone who is both cruel and unfazed by how their cruelty affects others (he just verified Kyle Rittenhouse!).

@brewster I think Musk is bully-able because, at heart, he's the awkward, geeky kid trying to use his (father's) money to buy the approval of the cool kids.

Kathy Griffin and Stephen King can get under his skin because he craves their approval.
