@jr Thanks! So how to verify user without Twitter??

@iso718 depends, they could for example verify via a rel me Link on their website, see https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/profile/#verification

Also @keyoxide is quite useful for decentralized verification, although it's quite nerdy, as it's based on PGP

@jr @keyoxide Do I understand keyoxide correct?: Via private/public key we have access to the profile in read/write mode, and for the verification we have to set the DNS TXT entry?

@iso718 @keyoxide no that's not really how it works. Keyoxide fundamentally just defines how you could include identity proofs into your PGP Key. It then also provides some interfaces how others could verify those proofs.

By DNS TXT you mean the website proof of Keyoxide?

@jr @keyoxide So how is the trust built up? Is it because I use the same identity among different services?
@iso718 @keyoxide yes mostly like this. And if you know someone personally you could verify they are in turn the owner of the PGP key. But yeah the main purpose is something similar to Keybase. If you know some online identity of a person you could verify they are the same person somewhere else...
