2. Do the servers have different problems, response times, crash rates? I've found this very slow and buggy today. Is that normal? If servers vary in this way, is there a place to see server stats across the system?
@orbitingfrog Threading looks good, insofar as your toots are shown to me as a thread. From what I've seen elsewhere, Mastodon doesn't keep threads (a chain of self-answers) together very well if someone else also answers the original tweet, though. (Not the case in your example.)
@mpoessel@orbitingfrog Yes, thread looks good. Although I've seen it recommended that posts subsequent to the original one are marked as "Unlisted" rather than "Public" to not clutter up people's timelines I'm sort of unconvinced about it. That said, threads aren't quite as obvious visually here as in the other place, so I tend to give more context to each post because it may well be boosted and seen entirely separately (and not obviously be part of a thread).
@orbitingfrog this server is acting weird yesterday and today. I can’t see any global or community posts. And my feed has older items. The direct website via browser seems to be behaving better than apps. I went to check other servers to look at the federated feed and it’s good. Mastodon.online is not. Saw one post yesterday about 4.0 upgrade … maybe that is issue? Ps. My background is SW testing so I notice this stuff
@orbitingfrog@Gargron adding admin to thread. Why is #mastodon.online not showing federated or community posts ? Says local timeline is empty and nothing here. I have same issue on two apps and going to website mobile and laptop…..is this related to the 4.0 post I saw? do we wait this out or need to migrate to another server ?
