I've changed quite a few parts on joinmastodon.org/servers today in response to the feedback from the past week. In detail:

You can now filter by region, type of legal entity, and sign-up speed. Added note about why the topics filter exists. Changed tagline.

"Get on waitlist" has become "Apply for an account" for servers that manually review new sign-ups. Removed total user count from cards.

@Gargron I've heard complaints from people who find the whole "choose a server" thing intimidating. They just want to sign up on Mastodon and take it for a spin. Maybe add an option to get signed up on a random general-interest server.
@isaac32767 @Gargron yes - I think a good ux is for new registrants to get assigned a random instance. Take the guesswork away for people not yet accustomed to mastodon. They can always move later if they want
@johnmark @Gargron Maybe not a completely random server. You wouldn't want to send people to a server where the main language is one they don't speak, or that centers on interests they don't share. Maybe allow server admins to indicate their openness to random new users, and have them specify the languages they speak. Use that to simplify choose-your-server process for people who aren't looking for a specific community right away.
