Eugen RochkoPictures and videos should now be loading fast again on mastodon.social. The load balancer was hitting the limits of its hardware too so I had to upgrade it #devops

It actually seems like the entire mastodon.social server is pretty sluggish again today (I know you just upgraded it a few days ago, and I assume you're scrambling to beef up bandwidth/etc even more now). Beyond switching to a different instance or signing up for your patreon to help fund further upgrades (which I did the other day), is there anything else we can do?

@markallanson @Gargron My point is that the odds are that MOST of the instances are likely to be overwhelmed soon, and it’s a bit impractical for that many users to keep shifting around from one to another all the time. I’m asking if there are other things folks can do to reduce the load on the major servers *while upgrades are being done* or if moving elsewhere is the only feasible option.
