What story do you tell when you have no book to hand? Gelert the Faithful Hound is mine, actions and all. @MrEFinch #primaryteacher #UkKidLit
Why can’t I attach photo of Gelert statue/painting??🤔
@RobinRB17
I either do The Three Wishes if I've only got a short tike or 'The Donkey Story' (Bricklebrit/The Miller's Sons) if I have longer.
Oral storytelling is my absolute favourite.
@MrEFinch Isn’t it great. I think I remember a life-size moving Brickelbrit donkey in a fairy tale theme park in The Netherlands or Germany when I was tiny. It did something when you walked past. A great story which has turned some dusty cogs for me!
@RobinRB17 I love that story. Can make it last an hour if time allows. Can't imagine what that animatronic donkey would have done.
@MrEFinch @RobinRB17 It wouldn't have been Märchenwald near Cologne by any chance would it?
@JoEnglish @MrEFinch Possibly one there too! We did the rounds of Northern European fairy tale worlds in the 70s ! 😂
@MrEFinch I’ve just checked with family. It sprayed water out of its rear end - not gold 🤣 I had ‘gold’ coins in my head for some reason. Still very exciting when you are 6 though!
@MrEFinch I found it!😂 I wonder if it had a predecessor though - this one is only 30! https://www.efteling.com/en/park/attractions/fairytale-forest/donkey-lift-your-tail

@RobinRB17 @MrEFinch

I’ve got a whole load
of picture books memorised.
but if I had to

pick just one of them
I’d go Giant Jam Sandwich
it’s an all time fave

@Haiku_Dad @MrEFinch I haven’t read that - but it looks great! I’ve just submitted a wasp picture book of my own, so I should have! Off to the library…
