also, i mean, right now, on other social media sites today, many more leftists get clapped than far right wing extremists. mastodon isn’t perfect, but, i see the structure of it being significantly less problematic than having companies relying on profit (and then, eventually, highly targeted ad revenue streams) which can be highly exploited with loads of engagement (ie, things like filter bubbles and cambridge analytica coming in and exploiting that)
he wrote an entire paper on this topic, which i WAS inclined to read, but he went full on condescension mode and painted it as if we’re only tech-obsessed nerds who don’t think about much of anything else. so that’s cool
furthermore, the US was founded on racialized logic to begin with. it wouldn’t have particularly mattered whether the country was a federation or a confederation - this sort of thing screams “well nazis are socialists too, it’s in the name!”
