Me and SO were talking about toxic influencer culture and how fans swarm around them no matter what shit they do. If not for the attention economy which incentivizes such behaviour, influencers would have not existed.

I'm not saying all influencers are bad. It can take a toll on them as well. Recently a young lady we know, who rose to fame through her hoola-hoop videos on IG and gained thousands of followers, made her account private and gave a statement saying she can't do this influencer shit anymore because it's taking a toll on her.
Churning out content that the algorithm approves of all day everyday can be exhausting. People aren't machines.
