Byron Miller@sottey Docker ones are pretty simple - just has a bit of learning overhead but overall not bad. Building from source seems reliable as can be too

If you lack the system requirements to run Mastodon, you can also look at Pleroma, it requires way less cpu to run and can.still communicate with mastodon and the rest of the fediverse.
