1/ I find here, in S.Oklahoma, reading #comics isn't the same as it was when I was a kid. What you see on Big Bang Theory is pretty accurate to my early days- the hunt was to get an entire run of a title. That still exists, along with the FOMO (fear of missing out) people who buy single issues in the hopes it'll get hot and they can flip it for profit. (Remember foil/hologram covers from the 90s??) But here's what sells best for us-
2/ Bundles or 'value packs' of complete storylines. These are the single issues but put all together so you can read the story arc in one sitting. (Usually 5 or 6 issues, unless it's a big 'event', then it's 10-12.) I call this the 'Netflix Effect'. People -especially those under 30- don't want to wait to get the whole story, and they will come into a story when it's done rather than at the beginning, when they have to wait 6-12 months (or longer, "Dark Knights of Steel').

3/3 But they don't necessarily want to read a graphic novel. They still like the idea of sitting down and reading single issues. It's a new spin on tradition, and something a #comic book store has to adapt to, in order to stay relevant.

Just some thoughts from a store owner. 😀
