Is there a server where d*ck picks are not allowed?
@meerenai I haven't seen a single penis picture on here. But if someone is sending them to you without your consent, that constitutes as harassment, which is against server rules.
@ARE I just saw one as a reply to a thread I was reading. No content warning. The text suggested it was not all what it was so I clicked on it to reveal. But it was from someone on a different server than mine. How do I know if it’s allowed on their server? And how do I avoid this in the future??
@meerenai whoa that’s wild. I’m new here so I don’t know. There are specific servers that are moderated here. Maybe ther server that you saw this image on can be added to that list? Perhaps bring it to the attention of the staff.
@ARE I reported the account.

@meerenai sorry had to deal with that. I did some digging and it looks like you can also block entire servers. I think that’s super cool!

Hope this helps!

@meerenai wow. Ugh. And yes. It should say in the server conditions what is or isn’t allowed. I’m not sure about my instance (mastodon.art - allows nudity because Art, but it always seems to be behind a clear content warning) but there’ll definitely be instances that outright ban that. Sunny.garden is a creative community server that might be worth checking T&Cs? Also check your current server’s terms - if they do ban it, then users breaching that shld be reported.
@meerenai also, I’d say that certainly on my server the sysadmin is very active in responding to reports and warning/blocking users who post forbidden content and I gather this attentiveness is quite common across the fediverse, so reports much more likely to be acted on than in corporate-run services.
@minim what about when the poster is on a different server?
@meerenai not 100% sure - might depend on the server? Presume this is in the Federated timeline then? That’s an accumulation of people followed by ppl on your server but I believe there are overall blocks that sysadmins can put in place, or if it seems to be coming from a particular server, I believe that you as a user can block a whole server from your timeline too. I haven’t needed to do it myself (yet) but I def read that somewhere. I’ll see if I can find where again…
@meerenai found where to do it - if you click through to a user’s profile, then in the … menu (on mobile at the moment - might be different on desktop) you have the option to block that user or their whole server. Hope that helps while you’re investigating servers!!!
@meerenai looks like if you scroll down through a server’s terms you’ll get to lists of servers where images may be automatically marked as sensitive content and servers that are outright blocked so you can see what sort of things they’re rejecting as well as what they don’t allow to be posted.
@minim I reported the account so theoretically someone will look at it but this account has been posting racist💩 for a while also and no one noticed or cared.
@meerenai ugh. fingers crossed it's just a case of the mods being overwhelmed with new accounts and they sort it nice and quickly. sounds like it might be good to try a different instance though :-/
@meerenai do most servers not have rules against harrassment or untagged NSFW?
